Insurance conditions for motorhome rental
Our assistance conditions
Renters benefit from complete assistance available 24/7. The assistance service essentially consists of:
- ensuring on-site breakdown assistance or covering towing costs for the broken down or accident-damaged vehicle (not in a drivable condition) to the nearest qualified garage;
- covering 2 nights of accommodation while waiting for repairs;
- repatriating the occupants of the vehicle if it is immobilized for more than 2 days in France and more than 5 days abroad;
- covering €150 including tax for taxi transfer costs (taxi costs incurred for transport to the train station, airport, garage, hotel, or agency where the Renter will pick up a rental or replacement vehicle);
- accompanying the vehicle owner in recovering their vehicle.
For the Renter, assistance is available in France or abroad if the rented vehicle is immobilized during a trip due to:
- an accident
- a flat tire
- a fuel error
- a breakdown (including any failures making it impossible to use the Vehicle under normal safety conditions or that could notably worsen the reason for the breakdown (example: oil warning light on).
- a fuel shortage
- loss/theft/damage of keys
- an attempted theft
- the theft of a vehicle
This intervention cannot take place outside of road infrastructures (on unpaved roads). Moreover, the service cannot be provided on the highway network or express roads due to legislation governing traffic on these routes.
In this case, the costs of breakdown or towing will be reimbursed upon simple presentation of the original invoice. In case of a breakdown or accident on the highway or fast lane, use the nearest telephone terminal, you will be directly connected with a representative authorized to trigger emergency assistance.
These services are subject to the condition that the breakdown of the immobilized vehicle is carried out by the assistance provider whose contact details are mentioned in the rental agreement.
For the Owner, assistance is available in France or abroad for:
1. The recovery of the repaired vehicle
The assistance provides the Owner or a person of their choice residing in France, a one-way trip to reclaim their vehicle, under the following conditions:
- a first-class train ticket
- a standard class plane ticket (if more than 7 hours by train)
- a rental vehicle of economic or city category for a maximum of 48 hours (France only). If your travel time in the rental vehicle requires it, Mondial Assistance organizes and covers hotel costs (room and breakfast), up to a maximum of €100 including tax, limited to 1 night maximum.
- if the Owner does not wish to recover their vehicle by their own means and if the vehicle is duly insured and meets the standards of the mandatory technical inspection and the Highway Code, assistance can send a qualified driver to drive the vehicle to the Owner's home via the most direct route. The driver's salary and travel are covered; the road costs (fuel, possible tolls, ferry crossings, hotel and restaurant costs for passengers) are the responsibility of the Owner.
2. The recovery of the non-repaired vehicle (abroad only)
If the vehicle is immobilized abroad and the duration of repairs expected by the garage exceeds 5 days and more than 5 hours of labor, assistance covers the repatriation of the vehicle from the garage where it is immobilized to the garage chosen by the owner and closest to their home. In case of impossibility to drop off the vehicle at the designated garage, assistance chooses a garage among the closest to the Owner's home.
In case of an accident: transport costs limited to the Argus® value of the vehicle before the incident.
Service not applicable in case of immobilization in France.
These services are subject to the condition that the breakdown of the immobilized vehicle is carried out by the assistance provider whose contact details are mentioned in the rental agreement.
Comprehensive insurance: guarantees and deductibles
The insurance deductible is the portion that remains the responsibility of the renter in the event of an incident only when the driver is at fault or when there is no identified third party. The deductible applies fully or partially, depending on the driver's share of responsibility. A deductible applies per event. Multiple deductibles are applicable in the case of non-concurrent claims.
Summary of coverage and deductibles:
All events not mentioned in this coverage table are to be considered as not covered by the insurance guarantees.
(1) Theft/Attempted theft/Fire/All accident damages including accessories and private contents up to €3000 including tax
All accident damage guarantee except for the upper parts of the vehicle: this guarantee is acquired only in the case of an accident with another vehicle or any collision with a fixed or mobile object different from the vehicle.
Damage guarantee for only the upper parts of the vehicle: this guarantee is acquired only in the case of an accident with another vehicle or any collision with a fixed or mobile object different from the vehicle. This guarantee covers damages caused to the upper parts of the rented vehicle resulting from non-compliance with the size limit and/or a misjudgment of a passage.
Glass breakage: covers windshields, side windows, rear windows, front headlight optics, sunroof glasses whose elements in glass or organic glass (transparent plastic material that replaces glass) are broken or cracked.
Accessories and private contents: in the context of a covered automobile claim under one of the main guarantees (Fire, Theft, All accident damages), it is specified that the following are also an integral part of the insured vehicle up to €3,000 including tax: professional fittings and equipment not listed in the manufacturer's catalog, accessories not listed in the manufacturer's catalog, audio devices, and transported objects and effects. Only accessories rented at the same time as the vehicle and permanently fixed to it are guaranteed.
The main exclusions of coverage are:
- interior damages, whatever the origin; however, this exclusion can be redeemed in the Serenity+ formula
- damages to electronic devices such as TV, DVD, GPS, tablet;
- tires;
- fuel errors;
- mechanical breakdowns;
- damages caused to the insured vehicle by transported objects (bicycles, motorcycles...);
- fines or damages caused by the impounding of the vehicle; damages caused intentionally.

Countries covered by all-risk insurance
Renters can travel according to the geographical scope indicated below.
The list of countries where the Green Card is valid is evolving; it is the Renter's responsibility to refer to it before departure.
Countries covered by assistance
The assistance guarantees apply in the following countries
Albania, Germany, Principality of Andorra, Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Cyprus, Croatia, Denmark (excluding Greenland), mainland Spain including Balearic Islands, Estonia, France, Finland, Liechtenstein, Greece, Hungary, Italy, Israel, Ireland, Iceland, Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, Lithuania, Latvia, Malta, Morocco, Moldova, North Macedonia, Montenegro, Norway, Netherlands, mainland Portugal including Madeira, Poland, Principality of Monaco, Czech Republic, Romania, United Kingdom, Russia (European part, up to the Ural Mountains included), San Marino, Sweden, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Switzerland, Tunisia, Turkey, Ukraine.
France refers to metropolitan France, DROM, and PTOM.
Territorial exclusions
The territory of Crimea, the People's Republic of Luhansk, and the People's Republic of Donetsk are excluded. Countries that, at the time of departure, are in a state of civil or foreign war, notorious political instability, or experiencing natural disasters, popular movements, riots, acts of terrorism, reprisals, restrictions on the free movement of people and goods (for any reason, including health, security, meteorological, etc.), or disintegration of the atomic nucleus, or any irradiation from an energy source presenting a radioactive character are also excluded.
Cancellation insurance: guarantees and deductibles
The insurance deductible is the part that remains the responsibility of the renter in case of cancellation. The deductible applies to the compensation due. The premium paid for cancellation insurance is never refundable once subscribed.
The guarantee takes effect on the date of subscription to this contract and expires on the day the keys of the vehicle are handed over to the renter (on the day of the reservation).
In the absence of supporting documents or if the documents provided do not prove the materiality of the guaranteed event invoked, the insurer has the right to refuse the insured's claim for compensation.

Stay interruption insurance: guarantees and deductibles
The guarantee comes into play for an interrupted stay, that is to say for a rental that has already begun.
The compensation is proportional to the number of unused rental days. The compensation is refunded up to a limit of 2,500€ including tax, without exceeding the amount of the reservation.
The compensation is calculated from the day after the event occurs (medical repatriation, early return, hospitalization on site) that gives rise to it. The premium paid for the Serenity + option, which includes the interruption of stay, is never refundable once subscribed.
The Interruption of Stay guarantee aims to ensure that the renter receives compensation when their stay is interrupted without the possibility of resuming it for one of the following reasons:
- the medical repatriation of the Insured or one of their companions, organized by an assistance company,
- the early return of the Insured following one of the following events:
1. in case of Illness or Accident, resulting in urgent hospitalization, starting during the stay of the Insured, their Spouse, one of their ascendants, descendants, brothers, sisters, their legal guardian, the person placed under their guardianship, participating or not in the Trip;
2. to attend the funeral, following the death of the Insured's Spouse, one of their ascendants, descendants, brothers, sisters, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, sons-in-law, daughters-in-law, fathers-in-law, mothers-in-law, their legal guardian, the person placed under their guardianship, participating or not in the Trip and living in France;
3. in case of material damage resulting from a burglary, fire, water damage or a climatic event, making the presence of the Insured on site essential for the implementation of precautionary measures and administrative procedures, and affecting more than 50%: their primary or secondary residence, their agricultural operation, their professional premises if they are a craftsman, merchant, business manager or if they practice a liberal profession.

In case of absence of supporting documents within a period of 15 days or if the provided documents do not prove the materiality of the invoked guaranteed event, the insurer has the right to refuse the compensation request of the insured.

Interior Damage Insurance: Coverage and Deductibles
The Interior Damage Guarantee for the Motorhome aims to ensure that the renter is covered for damages caused by them to the interior equipment of the insured vehicle.
By interior equipment of the insured vehicle, we mean the accessories and fittings necessary for the use of the motorhome for residential purposes, as well as linens, dishes, personal items, and effects of the occupants.
This guarantee is granted in the event of:
- damages incurred inside the rented vehicle resulting from an accident caused by the renter's clumsiness, within the limits of the conditions and exclusions defined below;
- acts of vandalism, within the limits of the conditions and exclusions defined below;
- fire or theft of the Insured Vehicle, within the limits of the conditions and exclusions defined below.
The insurer's reimbursement is limited to:
- the amount of the damages;
- the maximum amount of coverage detailed below;
- in any case, less the amount of the residual deductible charged to the Renter.
For electrical appliances, household appliances, hi-fi, video, computer equipment, and game consoles, depreciation is applied. It is 10% per year from the first commissioning (20% for computer equipment and game consoles) not to exceed 70%, with the remaining 30% corresponding to the value of use.
Loss of Earnings Insurance: Coverage Details
The purpose of the contract is to offer 2 levels of guarantees for any private owner (excluding professionals) renting their vehicle to individuals via the Wikicampers platform who have subscribed to the contract and have paid the annual insurance premium.
Consult the insurance documents
1. Loss of income:
Following the forced immobilization of the vehicle : Insurance for the loss of income from confirmed rentals that must be canceled due to the forced immobilization of the motorhome. The Loss of Income guarantee is acquired if the following cumulative conditions are met:
- The immobilization of the insured vehicle must occur due to damage, an act of vandalism, a fire, theft, glass breakage, or a flat tire before or during the rental of the insured vehicle through the intermediary of Wikicampers ;
- The damage must be reported to the personal insurer if the damage occurred prior to the rental or to Wikicampers if the damage occurs during the rental;
- The rentals to be canceled must have been booked on the Wikicampers platform;
- The rentals to be canceled must be confirmed at the time of the claim (the immobilization of the vehicle) excluding those that have already started or are starting on the day of subscription;
- The damage, act of vandalism, fire, theft, or glass breakage suffered by the rented vehicle must result in the immobilization of the insured vehicle for more than 24 hours;
- The immobilization of the vehicle must be made necessary by a safety or comfort element that does not allow the vehicle to be rented under normal rental conditions.
Following cancellation by the Tenant : The Loss of Income guarantee aims to compensate the Insured for the loss of income from confirmed rentals with Wikicampers canceled by the tenant between 29 days and 8 days before departure prior to the rental, within the limits of the conditions and exclusions defined below.
Following cancellation due to the hospitalization of the Owner : The Loss of Income guarantee aims to compensate the Insured for the loss of income from confirmed rentals with Wikicampers canceled by the renter due to their inability to hand over the keys to the tenant due to their hospitalization, within the limits of the conditions and exclusions defined below.
2. Loss of enjoyment:
This is the flat-rate compensation for the owner's loss who cannot enjoy their motorhome for personal use. The guarantee is granted if the owner was to use their vehicle for personal use for a weekend or vacation departure.
The Loss of Enjoyment guarantee is acquired if the following cumulative conditions are met:
- The immobilization of the insured vehicle must occur due to damage, an act of vandalism, a fire, theft, glass breakage, or a flat tire during the rental of the insured vehicle through the intermediary of Wikicampers;
- The immobilization of the vehicle must occur during a period when the owner planned to go on vacation or a weekend with the insured vehicle;
- The damage, act of vandalism, fire, theft, or glass breakage suffered by the rented vehicle must result in the immobilization of the insured vehicle for more than 24 hours;
- The immobilization of the vehicle must be made necessary by a safety or comfort element that does not allow the vehicle to be used under normal safety conditions;
Flat-rate compensation amount per day of unavailability: 100 € TTC
Maximum amount covered per insurance year under the Loss of income guarantee: 1200 € TTC
