Loss of income and loss of enjoyment
The Wikicampers Loss of Earnings guarantee applies in several specific situations that could impact your income as a motorhome owner. Here are the 2 types of situations where you can benefit from this insurance:
Loss of income related to the rental of the motorhome
If your vehicle is immobilized against your will, you can receive compensation for confirmed rental income that will, therefore, be canceled. This situation covers 3 scenarios:
The immobilization of the motorhome
The immobilization must be caused by an event (damage, vandalism, theft, fire, glass breakage, flat tire) that occurred before or during the rental. The vehicle must be immobilized for more than 24 hours. And this incident must prevent the rental of the vehicle under normal conditions.
The cancellation by the tenant of the motorhome or converted van
The Loss of Earnings guarantee also applies in the event of cancellation of the rental by the tenant, provided that the cancellation occurs between 29 and 8 days before the departure date. You will then be compensated for the loss of income related to this cancellation if you were unable to replace the tenant in time.
The hospitalization of the motorhome owner
If you are hospitalized unexpectedly for a minimum duration of 72 hours and cannot hand over the keys to your tenant, this guarantee covers the loss of income from confirmed rentals that you had to cancel due to this impediment.
Loss of enjoyment of the converted vehicle (personal use)
This compensation applies if you cannot use your vehicle for your own holidays or a weekend, for example due to its immobilization during a rental. A damage often overlooked, but no less important, the personal use of your motorhome can also be covered by this guarantee!
What amounts are compensated by the Loss of Earnings Guarantee?
Compensation amount in case of immobilization of the motorhome
In case of immobilization of your vehicle, you will be compensated up to 80% of the total gain from the canceled rental, which can represent a significant part of your rental income.
Compensation amount in case of tenant cancellation
If the tenant cancels their reservation, you are compensated at 50% of the total gain from the canceled rental, if no re-rental could be made.
Compensation amount in case of hospitalization of the van or motorhome owner
If you are hospitalized, the guarantee covers up to 80% of the total gain from the rental that you must cancel due to your inability to hand over the keys.
Compensation amount in case of loss of enjoyment for the owner's use
If you cannot enjoy your recreational vehicle for a vacation departure or a weekend, the guarantee offers a flat-rate compensation of 100 € per day of unavailability of the vehicle. The maximum amount covered per year is 1,200 €.
