Campervan rental through Wikicampers includes a specific temporary insurance policy for private campervan rental.
It's a temporary insurance policy that covers both renters and the campervan hired for the entire rental period, with 24 hour support available..
Rental insurance conditions
Vehicles covered by the insurance :
- weight less than 3.5 tons;
- new value less than €100,000;
- valid vehicle registration document obtained in France;
- has a valid MOT;
- the vehicle registration document must be obtained on behalf of the owner (fields C1 or C3) and be valid;
- been recorded and confirmed by the WIKICAMPERS website.
Drivers covered by insurance :
- is aged at least 23 years;
- has held a category B driving licence for at least 3 years. The driving licence must still be valid.;
- a scan of the driving licence and proof of ID of all drivers must be submitted to Wikicampers before the start of the rental period;
- number of drivers limited to 2 per rental (no additional charge);
- €2,000 security deposit: bank card payment or cheque (non-collectable) under the same name as the payment, to be sent to Wikicampers before the start of the rental period. .
Support
The renters can enjoy full support :
- support available 24/7;
- on-site repairs or the towing costs to the nearest suitable garage;
- the repatriation of the renter and of passengers or the 5-day waiting time on site;
- the recovery of luggage, if the campervan is immobilised for more than 7 days.
If the campervan is immobilised, the insurance will cover the owner's (or another driver's) travel expenses to go and recover the campervan once repaired .
Full coverage insurance
The renters receive full coverage insurance for driving the rental vehicle.
Coverage of the rental vehicle :
- vehicle damage, theft, fire;
- windscreen cover (windscreen, side bay windows, rear windscreen, headlights, sunroof, solar pannels);
- protection of renter rights;
- the personal possessions belonging to the owner of the vehicle up to €1,000 .
Driver cover, third party and passenger cover :
- individual driver cover up to €150,000;
- liability for third parties and passengers transported on the vehicle without excess or maximum limit: unlimited for personal injury, limited for material damage up to 100 million euros .
Excesses
Insurance excess is the share that is the sole responsibility of the renter in the event of an accident where the driver is responsible or where there is an unidentified third party. The excess may apply partially or totally, depending on the driver's responsibility. The excess is determined by the event. Several excesses may be applicable if the accidents are not concurrent. .

* If the driver obtained a category B driving licence less than five years ago (at the time of the accident) and they are responsible for the accident, a specific excess of €2,000 and an excess of €1,000 apply to the liability cover .
